The 2–year Pharma Academy programme, through AlfaNordic Academy A/S, has been a career catalyst for 10 young graduates entering the pharmaceutical industry. This is the second team of graduates that AlfaNordic Academy sends on to the life science industry. The 10 graduates on team 2 completed their course with a written presentation and an oral exam on Friday 13 September, with the presence of two examiners from AlfaNordic Academy and the pharmaceutical company that the graduate has worked for, as well as an external examiner, Sven Frøkær, from the University of Copenhagen.
All 10 academically educated young people, Christian Juel, Camilla, Andreas, Esben, Katrine, Michelle, Monica, Christian Lisbjerg, Daniel and Asger have undergone rapid development both professionally and personally over the past 2 years, where they, among other things, have received 8 weeks of professional training, a week's boot camp with former soldiers from the special forces, sparring with a personal mentor, in parallel with daily work in the pharmaceutical industry. As a side benefit, they have been able to create a solid network as a team, which spans across companies in the industry, such as the companies Novo Nordisk, AJ Vaccines, Chr. Hansen, Leo Pharma, Bavarian Nordic and Fujifilm in Hillerød (former Biogen).
We are incredibly proud to once again contribute to providing the Life Science industry with highly qualified resources to carry out important projects, management and tasks in the pharmaceutical industry going forward. All 10 graduates have been offered a job in the company they have been associated with during their 2–year course. They landed in positions as production supporters, project assistants, project managers, LEAN partners and team leaders. These are great positions to achieve after only a few years of seniority in the job market, with a further higher education in natural sciences. It shows that our graduate programme is a catalyst which contributes to giving the young people a quantum leap in their careers.
AlfaNordic Academy provides education and training of resources within quality–regulated production environments. Pharma Academy is a very unique graduate programme that targets the part of the value chain in drug manufacturing which is in direct contact with the production lines, where the medicine is manufactured and packaged so that it reaches the patients safely. It takes courage, overview and good communication to be thrown into jobs where high demands on quality and performance are made. The types of work performed by our 10 graduates on team 2 have ranged from process validation of existing production lines to project management work on large cross–border construction projects, which in a few years will result in new buildings with production equipment for which our graduates have helped ensure qualification and GMP compliance – and furthermore, more graduates have gained hands-on experience with the role of LEAN facilitator, as the industry is constantly focused on making things smarter and faster.
We are about to put together the next team in the Pharma Academy with ongoing start–ups from 30 September to 31 March 2020. We currently have many talented new graduates in our portfolio of candidates for the programme, and can once again offer a company in the life science industry the opportunity to invest in a young person and, through Pharma Academy and together with AlfaNordic Academy, to develop the company's future managers and project managers.
You will find that graduates can and do want to take responsibility, and that they have an amazing ability to perform both among production staff and in project teams. There is a strong focus on personal development throughout the course, so that all graduates understand themselves and the mechanisms of collaboration. The education provides a broader and insightful perspective on the life science industry. It cannot be described in words how talented and valuable graduates turn out to be before you have experienced it yourself. We would be happy to provide references to business executives who can tell you what it was like to have a graduate from Pharma Academy. And we would love to come and talk to you about the programme and how we can create a good opportunity for business growth through the potential of the young generation in the Life Science industry. You can also find much more information about Pharma Academy here on our website.
The reception was held in the consultancy house AlfaNordic's own premises in Herlev, where speeches were given, among others by the company's chairman Flemming Lindeløvand where the well-earned certificates were subsequently presented by our Managing Director Frank Winther-Hingeas the result of 2 years of hard work.
The day ended with many congratulations from the upcoming employers to our graduates. Without them we would never have been able to start this initiative. Without their vision and responsibility to pass something on to the next generation, Pharma Academy would never have become a reality. Thank you!
We look forward to seeing what the future will bring for all of our graduates. At least we know that you have the skills and the ability to go far.
Best regards from all of us in AlfaNordic Academy.
